1. Most middle and high school basketball players can't make open shots and neither can they make shots with a hand in their face.
2. Most teams have 1 possibly 2 shooters and the rest either can't shoot or aren't asked to shoot? And how many players are on the team 10-12?
3. Most teams have only 1 decent ball handler; and the rest handle the ball by committee.
4. Most players who play the wing can't make good entry passes to the post while being defended heavily.
5. Most players don't realize how much better they can be if they would simply put in more (personal) work.
6. Most players have a false sense of reality, they really don't have a true and meaningful picture from which to measure themselves.
7. The lack of adequate conditioning normally limits the level of production and play of each player. All athletes have a difference conditioning peak point.
8. Players who start and play most of the game also have several deficiencies in other important areas of their game; and some even lack the confidence needed to compete against good competition! But you would never know that and neither will they tell you.
9. Most athletes don't set personal & team practice and game goals. Most simply show up and play. Measuring their day to day success isn't as important and playing the game.
10. Most players don't set aside enough meaningful personal time to watch game film of themselves and the team to learn from their mistakes and to improve their play. But they should!
Bonus:
Most players don't have a good concept of the game because they don't watch enough of the game to learn how it's suppose to be played!
Most players don't have a good concept of the game because they don't watch enough of the game to learn how it's suppose to be played!
The above list are things I would like to see change and get better for all student-athletes!
[Please note that the statements above don't apply to all players, but most]
