Teenage Rebellion

For those of you who are now teenagers, please remember that your parents raised you from 0 to now and never did they teach you to become smart mouthed, anti-social with the family & siblings, disrespectful and self absorbed (it's about me, me, me,me me).
So, If you've stepped out of bounds with your parents, simply look in the mirror and look at the friends you're now keeping. And there you will find the problem.
So stop placing all the blame on your parents for the way in which you've started acting and start taking responsibility for your poor attitude upon yourself. You and your friends know that you are no longer acting like the person your parents raised you to be.
It's never too late to repent, apologize, choose better friends and get back on track.
Don't let the likes of rebellion cause you to take your family through unnecessary "you know what."

The biggest asset for basketball players are their parents

The biggest asset for b-ball players today are their parents. Parents are everything a player-person could want and more. And they have the ability to positively or negatively impact the thoughts and actions of their children.
Too often young people are too absorbed with themselves to fully understand the importance that their parent can have on all phases of their lives.
Something to remember:
God gave children parents so that they could help them, love them, encourage them, support them, teach them how to overcome obstacles, confide in them, believe in them and teach them how to be the best that they can be.
Proverb 1:8
Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

Hoop Hunter Short Basketball Memory

While playing point guard at UNT, I remember asking God right before tip off to give me the strength to play to the best of my ability and to help us compete, play as a team and win.
Bonus:
Prior to every home game, when my parents could make it (because they often had to work late), prior to tip off, once I saw them take their seat, I would shed a tear of joy and the game was on!
Just seeing my parents sit in a stadium to watch me play, gave me the biggest self-drive, motivation and the will to compete of my life.

Paint Your Own Picture of Yourself

Most go through life with an image and picture of what others think and perceive them to be. And in many cases that picture doesn't reflect nor depict them to be who they really are.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of those pictures others have painted and start painting your own creative picture of yourself.

You'll never be happier unless the picture of you is genuine, authentic and has been painted by you (the artist). After all, nobody knows you like you.

"Be your own artist and paint your own picture. Your destiny in life belongs to you, not the picture others have painted that they want to say belongs to you."

High School Girls Play-Offs

The next round for all area high school teams is going to be rougher and tougher. In fact, it will be more difficult for either team to advance if they step on the court and take their opponent lightly.

"It doesn't matter how young and/or old and experienced a team is these days, all that matters is that every player on the team (including their fans) believes their team can win.

Players must use poor calls by an official(s) to motivate the team meanwhile making sacrifices for the good of the team. If a player is on the bench, they must become the biggest cheerleader-motivator that has ever lived. Their value and voice(s) are equally attached to the play of the team.

And last, no matter what the score, players must trust and believe that their coaches are smart and will put them in a position to win.

Players Who Sit The Bench Deserves Credit Too

Players who often don't get to play in big games deserve lots of credit and respect for the heroic and unquestionable character they display by being a competitive, committed but selfless cheer leader and teammate when sitting on the bench.

In many cases, the most important players on a team are the ones often forgotten by their coaches, teammates, fans and the media.

["The Bench"]

Without the day to day support of players who are on the team but who sit the bench, the success of the team wouldn't be the same.

I believe that players who get to play in games should esteem every player on the bench before, during and after each games by engaging in healthy meaningful dialog, respect and bench interaction. And in some cases players who play a lot should consider buying them a burger for being such a huge support to the team without complaining.

[Fans]
After each game, we the fans shouldn't be able to distinguish who the one or two stars were from the game.We should only notice that those who sat the bench and those who played are simply one in the same.

"Where there's unity there's strength. One team, one goal, one opportunity."

And last, for players who are often asked to be interviewed by a news reporter, try telling the reporter that you would like to bring your entire bench over and let him and/or her get their thoughts.

Success is team, everyone counts and everyone wins!
