A recent note to me from my mother

Dear Son,

May you always be doing those good, kind things which show that you are a child of God, for this will bring much praise and glory to The Lord.

Building Believers Inc: Exciting Things Are Happening

BBI is our 501c3 organization. We support and help at risk kids & families in low-income communities & communities with kids/families who have a growing need for educational sports based initiative programs, mentoring programs, community impact programs and family enrichment programs by providing affordable youth sport events & joint community programs.

In the near future, we will have several opportunities for volunteers, career oriented individuals and college graduates who have a passion to work with at risk kids in communities to help impact their lives in a healthy life sustaining manner.

God is moving things forward and He's charging me (Deon Hunter-founder) to stretch my limits. Please pray for me as I grow more in Him!

Motivational/Inspirational Speaking with Deon Hunter

For nearly 23 years, I've been helping youth, teens and young adults sort through sports issues, education issues, life & career issues and personal growth & development issues. And as a result, I've developed a growing passion & desire to further invest in the lives of youth, teens & young adults by offering more motivational & inspirational speaking engagements to the public.

Coming this fall, I will be increasing my public speaking engagements & appearances (fee's involved) and opening up several  dates to speak at middle & high school athletic programs & student-assemblies, college athletic programs, community youth groups and church youth groups.

If you have an interest and would like to know more about booking, please send an email to: hoophunter@hoophunter.com

Life Is What You Make It

For those who think that life owe's them something, well, it doesn't. Life itself is full of opportunities (both good & bad). You must work hard daily, believe in yourself, re-frame from negative thoughts, be willing to go through some of life's peaks and valley's while believing in yourself and trust God to be your strength.

No Game

Don't let anyone fool you, if you're not consistently working on your game, you no longer have one.

Coaches Who Inherit Weak Players

Great coaches, who inherit weak players (who are unwilling to work on their game outside of practice time) run the risk of becoming weaker coaches.

"To get to your best, you must continuously push yourself beyond your comfort zone."

Read While Riding

Athletes who read books while they ride in the car improve their reading comprehension and intellect. Where's your book?

Tired of Sitting On The Bench?

When you get tired of sitting on the bench, do something about it; the court awaits your hard work, sweat and improved determination & confidence!

Do Coaches Hide Players?

Yes, Coaches sometimes hide players by having them play other positions because they don't have the skill set to play their expected position.

About Weak Players

Weak players aren't weak because they don't have the ability or talent, they're weak because they won't put in the work.

Why Do:

Why do so many parents feel they have the right to second guess coaches and then support getting them fired? Why?

Do parents get help from outsiders to get their bosses fired whom they may not agree with? Not!

The Golden Rule:

Don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to you.

Parents, please leave coaches and their careers alone. How would you like it if the coaches came to your boss and suggested that they fire you? Take a look in the mirror and do what's right. You know that you're a better person than that; if this is you, you're already forgiven.

Memory Lane: "Nothing Compares To You"

Watching each of you who were once children grow up and who are now young adult, is inspiring. I'm grateful, humbled and proud of each of you for your hard work and your desire (many years ago) to want to learn how to become a better basketball player.

As you live your lives, remember what it took to get where you are and the many lessons and people who helped you along the way, especially your parents.

Never allow bitterness or a bump in the road to lead you down a path of unrighteousness or self-destruction. When you fall (and yes you will), get back up on that horse and ride it again. And if it seems too hard, give me a call, I will help 817.491.9602!

Remember, you were beautifully created, and you're one of a kind.

It's now your turn to plant and sow seeds into the hearts of your own (children) and into the life of others whom you come in contact with on a day to day bases.

God Bless You

Each One-Teach One

Each day that I arise, I'm thankful as well as grateful for the gifts that God has bestowed upon me. I'm also grateful for the people that God has placed in my life too.

As the director of a Christian youth sports organization, I feel privileged and honored to serve the needs of  youth, young adults, families and communities throughout the North Central Texas Area.

We are all obligated to give something back without wanting something in return. For when we give, we live.

And caring about the needs of others is what really impacts children, at risk communities, families and our entire society.

Hats off to youth parent-coaches & youth coaches:

I'm thankful this morning for all of the parent-coach and youth coaches who teach and coach youth throughout their community in sports. It's an honor and privilege to be given the trust and responsibility to mentor these precious jewels (children).
Your continued positive leadership will impact kids for life. Don't take your words nor your actions for granted. Give your best daily and always recognize the differences in each child but most importantly, love them all the same.
Thanks for giving back to the community.
