Happy Easter

Today is a good day to rededicate yourself to living a Christ-Centered life.
Don't worry about what others may think, "Just Do It!"

Eternal life awaits all of those who believe and accepts Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior.

Eternal Life Awaits All Believers-The Decision Is Yours-"Just Do it!"

Romans 10:9
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

"Just Do It"

What a Blessing You've Been

To all of of my friends, what a blessing each of you have been throughout the years. Although many of your are close and others are afar, each of you in your own little way have made a difference and an impact in my life. You are truly never forgotten and you are an eternal friend.

No matter where you are in your walk with Christ (peak or valley), my hope is that you continue to look to God for everything because He truly is the master planner of everything. Just call upon His name (Jesus) and He will answer.

Happy Easter!

Players Net Work vs Net Worth

Q: What do trainers, aau/club team coaches & middle & high school coaches have in common?
A. A Players Net Work.

Q: What do you call trainers, aau/club team coaches and middle & high school coaches when they choose to (get rid of their personal ego's) work together in the best interest of the player?
A: A Players Support Group &Net Worth

Team-Kid:
* It's time for trainers, aau/club team coaches, middle & high school coaches to get rid of the personal ego's that sometimes get in the way of all of us helping the kids. When we work together, communicate and respect each other's gift, we can then appreciate the gifts that God is calling all of us to share in the life of a child. So everyone with the ego's get over yourself! And God Bless Us All.

Guess Why Good High School Coaches Quit

Can you guess why the majority of good high school coaches quit?
1. Not enough money.
2. Not enough talent.
3. Player(s) commitment is lacking.
4. Athletic director is too difficult to work for.
5. The parents cause too many problems, untrustworthy, belittle the program and job insecurity.

Living A Meaningful Christian Life

3 Things that has helped me live a meaningful Christian life.

1.Commitment (reading the word daily)
2.Obedience (doing what it says)
3.Faithfulness (believing that it's true)

Most people think that living a Christ centered life is boring. And most who think that way obviously hasn't made a committment to fully surrender their life to Christ.

Two Sun's-Son's of Light

If shade restricts grass from growing and full sun increase the growth; what more can the son of God (Jesus Christ) do for you if you totally allow Him to live on the inside of your heart.

Don't Be Held Hostage

Don't Let The Likes or Dislikes of Others and Your Past Hold You Hostage:

Once people see you from a particular past perspective, they will try to hold you hostage based on how they first met you. Because of your past, they won't let you grow nor allow you to reach your destiny based on what they heard, thought or saw you do at one point in your life when you were enslaved to sin.

Two Things to Remember:
1. All have sinned and fall short. Romans 3:23
2. I'm a new creation in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:16-18

Post Play Is Back, Thanks To BG

Thanks Brittney for Bringing Post Play Back Into The Game:

I'm so excited for Brittney Griner of Baylor. She's brought post play back into the game of basketball. I'm so tired of players telling me that their primary position is guard. And what young players don't realize is that good post can play with their back to the basket as well as facing the basket. So in reality, they play post-guard.

Hoop Hunter Helpful Post Play Basketball Tips

1. Point Guards are typically selfish; therefore post must rebound to find happiness.
2. Post players must learn to recycle all of the garbage that's missed by outside shooters and turn it into points. To do this, post must become good at anticipating the miss, locating the ball and beating their man to the ball.
3. When posting up, successful post need to maintain a wide base and a big target while demanding the ball; this type of demeanor will encourage selfish guards to pass them the ball.
4. When a perimeter player won't pass the ball into the post, post should leave the post area and set an "on the ball" up screen or "off the ball" back screen and roll to the basket. Doing this will get them involved in the action.
5. Post players don't have to be tall, they just need to know how to play post and have a counter attack when playing against their opponents.

Our Role In Life

What our role is in life should be determined by what god's plan is for our life.

Happy Friday

Today, choose to live, laugh, like yourself and love others. For life is too precious and short to allow others to steal your joy!

Don't Worry!

If you're like me, you sometime worry about things that God tells us not too. And until I'm reminded of His word which says, "But seek first his kingdom and righteousness and All things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33

If we will just honor our fathers word, he promises to meet our every need. Seek him daily, obey his word and watch your life turn around.

Wisdom on Settling Matters with Others

Don't be afraid to take the high road when settling your differences with others. It's far better to do so during the morning or daylight hours rather than night time or dark hours;the sooner the better.

Coaches and Teachers Deserve More Appreciation

Coaches and teachers seem to get lots of criticism and very little praise for the job they do working with kids. But yet they are the one's who invest the most time and plant the seeds in their lives that ultimately leads to their success. And too often the work that they've done goes unnoticed.

When was the last time you told either thank you?

You Never Know the Impact Until later

Tonight, I made contact after 33 years with the guy who I modeled my b-ball game after when I was a freshman in high school. One of my best friends saw him at a funeral today and he called me afterwards to tell me that he saw someone from high school who reminded him of me in every way possible. And would you know it, it was a guy named Ronnell Peters. In high school, I tried to model my game and life after him. Oh, and the best part is, he's in ministry in the Houston area. "Never underestimate the impact you can have on others"!

Whitney Williams-Simply Special

For most I'm sure you'll remember Whitney Williams. She was one of the most talented high school players in the area coming out of high school (Thesa Home School). She is also one of our own home grown hero's. Whit, as she is sometimes called, began training at Hoop Hunter Basketball during middle school. And has been very active in volunteering and working clinics and camps during the summer giving back to kids.

As a young athlete she was quiet, reserved, soft spoken but relentless on the basketball court. Whitney is one of the hardest working players that I've ever trained. One of the things I like the most about her sports career is that her family is her biggest fan and support group. Her proud parents are Gary and Patricia Williams. She has 3 siblings who also play sports. At an early age her parents instilled in her the importance of giving everything that she does her very best. And that's what she's been ever since.

While in high school Whitney set and broke several records, won state championships and earned a college scholarship to Iowa State prior to transfering to TCU. During her freshman season at Iowa State, Whitney learned a lot about Big 12 basketball.  "It was never easy but quite an experience,"say's Whitney. She say's, "players who hope to play college basketball need to be fully equip for the journey because it's not as easy as it looks." The season is long, play is fast, physical and depleting on the body.

After transfering to TCU and coming back home, Whitney red shirted and regrouped. While sitting out a season,Whitney worked hard and became a intrical part of her teams throughout the final two seasons of her career. As a senior she brought experience and leadership to the team. Through her life lessons, trials and tribulations Whitney grew to become one the best well-rounded playings for TCU.

Although her team took an early exit during the Big 12 Conference Tournament, Whitney gave it her best as she continued to display solid leadership on the court. And throughout the season, Whit always took pride in playing whatever role she was asked to play. What made her special was that she provided the team with energy, vocal praise, poise and solid offensive and defensive play.

Another part of Whitney that I like as well is her ability to play the guitar and sing. Several years ago, Whitney invited me to be the speaker for an FCA event and it was there that I learned that she could  sing and play the guitar. It was at that point that I knew that she had a gift in music and that someday God would open a door for it to be seen. And would you know it, that day came 2 weeks ago against the college (Iowa State) that she transferred from to attend TCU.  That afternoon Whitney got to sing the national anthem at half time and she rocked the house! Not only did she rock the house, TCU also won the game.

Hat's off to Whitney for being such an outstanding person, basketball player, Believer in Christ and good person. Don't be surprised if she becomes famous for her music. She's good, unique and special.

Best of Luck,

Deon

College Scholarship?

Q:How to get a college scholarship as a student or student-athlete?

A: You earn it by doing all the preperation work early while your peers and potential competitors are out there having fun. The fun that you're going to have once you've accomplished your goal is considered delayed gratificaton.

Fear Not, God is With Us

Have no fear, God is with us. Don't let the media put fear in your heart about our country or where it's headed. Trust God for everything and know that no one on the face of this earth can ruin what God has created. He loves us and we should lean on Him for everything.

Competitors for life

When we can no longer compete in sports and our career is over, remember that the greatest life long competition is standing with God and fighting against the prince of evil and darkness. To win these daily battles we must equip ourselves with the word of God.
