Players who choose to settle for second best only delay the inevitable, failure!

Becoming a Successful Basketball Player Isn't Easy, It's Hard Work

"Players Should Be Told the Truth"
As a former division I MVP [UNT- basketball], I feel it's my responsibility to tell players the truth about how hard they must be willing to work to become successful at playing the wonderful game of basketball. But what I see out there and what continues to concern me is the the fact that so many capable players are being misled and told that they're good enough but in reality they need to improve their game in a variety of areas in order to compete at a high meaningful level.
Many are led to believe that they're ripe and ready but let the truth be told, many are far away from reaching their full potential because they're not willing to put forth a sustained effort to be the best that they can be. And there lies the problem!
"And in addition to that, hard work sometimes make cowards of players."
Take it from me, "To be successful at anything, you must develop, have and/ or maintain a diligent relentless work ethic, meanwhile remaining meek and humble."
Too often young players base their success on what team they're on and who they know. Again, I find this baseless and harmful to the reality of where players really stand as it relates to the hard work and sacrifices they must make to become a good solid basketball player and team player.
Although the truth sometimes hurt, it's reality and it can set you free from living with a false sense of security.
"If you want success in basketball and in life, you must dedicate yourself to constantly improving your game and/or your craft."
The Key:
Leave the pact, become a trailblazer, get to work and start developing the new you!

"Becoming The Ultimate Champion"

Not everyone will win a championship but when you commit to being a diligent hard working person, the champion in you will surface.

Stop letting others fool you, sustained success is hard and it takes a high level commitment, dedication and humility.

And for those who want it bad, you will endure lots of adversity along the journey but don't quit, it's worth it!

"Only You Can Awaken The Champion!"

HHB Chooses to Care:

Choosing to care about the player-person before, during and after basketball is a no brainier at HHB.
We believe that self-driven players should be well taught, encouraged and led in a meaningful direction for success on and off the court by their coaches, mentors and role models.
We also believe that players should be given responsibilities that compliment their talent, skill sets and their overall capability to succeed in the areas of their gifting.
"Coaches, mentors and role models, It's not that hard, it's a matter of caring enough about the player-person and choosing to be selfless. Or in other words, doing the right thing."
A friendly reminder:
Since someone took the time and interest in caring about you, you should therefore take the time to care about the overall needs and success of those you've been entrusted!

One of my favorite bible verses:

If you want favor with both God and man, and a reputation for good judgement and common sense, then trust the lord completely; don't ever trust yourself. In everything you do put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.
Proverb 3:4-6

My Way Maker:

"Authentic Hope"- A deep sincere belief that God will accomplish what He has promised.
Throughout the bible God has always proven himself faithful to His children by keeping the covenants and promises He's made with those He love.
For me personally, my life has a tremendous amount of meaning simply because I've chosen to live my life in the best way that I can by honoring his word and placing all of my hope in Christ. And by maintaining a close, sincere day to day relationship with him (spending time in the word, praying, meditating on scripture and hearing the word).
What I've learned:
My way is made straight daily because my earthly and eternal authentic hope is in the lord Jesus Christ,
"God-my personal way maker!"

Living In Victory:

Don't let the world or your fare weather self-righteous friends fool you. Many have made several mistakes and have caused lots of pain and heartache towards others than you will never know.
Learn to forgive yourself:
The sooner you learn to forgive yourself for everything that you've ever done (every sin), the sooner you will begin to live in the victory that Christ promises and offers to all.
All Sin & Fall Short:
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not within us. If we confess our sins, he (God) is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:8-9

That's My 2 Cents:

Whatever Happened To Academic Excellence?
The best way to earn a college scholarship is through educational academic excellence.
Too often young people put all of their eggs in one basket therefore limiting their options for attending college because they look to one specific area as the only avenue in-which they feel they can earn a college scholarship or achieve a high level of success.
In my opinion, if you're a student or a student-athlete and you want to go to college, remember to cover all of your bases starting in the classroom first so that your options are limitless and your choices are plentiful.
That's my 2 cents!

Just Ask! Just Ask! Just Ask!

"God wants to bless us"

We have not, because we ask not. God wants to bless us (His children), especially those who are faithfully doing their best to trust and obey His holy word.
If you have a need, want or you desire something on earth that hasn't been fulfilled, take your request (faithfully) to the lord in prayer and leave them there.
"God wants to bless us, because he loves us".
Matthew 7:7
Ask, and you will be given what you ask for. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be open.
